Physical Wealth is Good Business
|
|
Physical Wealth affects an individual’s entire life: their health, vitality, energy, self-confidence, productivity, self-esteem. The Physical Wealth of individuals affects the bottom-line wealth of the companies they work for. PeopleFit USA works with premier organizations that are dedicated to the health of their employees. Our programs are designed to help increase productivity and profitability through wellness initiatives.
Companies of all sizes are experiencing the common challenge of how poor health negatively impacts not only individuals, but also a company’s bottom line. Here are just a few of the staggering statistics of the effects of employee health on corporations:
- According to the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics, by the end of 2006 healthcare costs are estimated to reach $2.2 trillion in the United States.
- Obesity costs corporations $13 billion per year in medical expenses and lost productivity (The Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity, March 22, 2004). Studies show obese employees are twice as likely to have high-level absenteeism (defined as seven or more health-related absences during the last six months) as non-obese employees (Prevention Makes Common “Cents” published in September 2003 by the Department of Health and Human Services).
- Indirect expenditures related to diabetes in 2002 totaled $39.8 billion resulting from lost workdays, restricted activity days, mortality, and permanent disability due to diabetes. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) research shows that people with diabetes lost 8.3 days per year from work (14 million disability days) compared to 1.7 days for people without diabetes (Prevention Makes Common “Cents” published in September 2003 by the Department of Health and Human Services).
- The average length of time for an obesity-related short-term disability claim is 45 days (Business and Health® Archive, May 20, 2004).
- Some companies have achieved as high as $6 savings for every $1 spent on wellness and incentives (Fitness Incentives Take Hold, OC Metro, May 2006).
More employers are devoting company resources in favor of health promotion programs realizing they are the most viable option to:
- Contain health care costs
- Improve employee productivity

“ Over the past several years in our relationship with PeopleFit USA, at a large Southern California hospital, the dozens of employees who participated in the fitness and wellness program were very pleased with their progress and results. The program attracted employees who needed to address health and fitness issues in their lives and provided an alternative to all the ‘mainstream’ solutions.”

“We brought in Heather Moreno to present to our employees on exercise motivation at our bi-monthly Academy class. Heather's enthusiasm and practical approach to fitness was well received by our employees. She offered solutions and ideas that made sense and helped motivate us to find ways to fit exercise into our busy schedules.”

A Real Solution for Healthy Employees – Hint – It’s Not What You Think
Simply telling someone to exercise, how often and how long to do it, and what to eat and what not to eat is not enough. Many people know they need to exercise, eat more fruits and vegetable, and limit their fat intake, just to name a few of the recommendations from doctors and other health care professionals.
Contrary to what many companies think, access to exercise facilities is also not a solution. Thousands of people join gyms every month with memberships going unused once the initial excitement wears off.
The problem is in the implementation of the information – how to make changes that fit in with one’s lifestyle. Too much information is also a problem: most people have so much conflicting information that they are confused and give up. Information is great but if it were enough we would all be thin and healthy.
The needed link between information and the ability of people to achieve results is a program that empowers them to take charge of their health and fitness, becoming more awake, healthy, energetic, and excited as a result. From on-site seminars to telephone-based Custom Fit Coaching, PeopleFit USA’s unique and affordable approach can do just that. |

Program #1: The Basics |
With the many myths and misinformation we are bombarded with daily, The Basics gives employees correct information and motivates them to get and stay fit.
The Basics includes:
- A copy of Heather’s book, Achieving Physical Wealth: 8 simple steps for breaking the rules of staying fit for each of your employees. A great resource to help people who are fed up with following The Rules and want a simple way to get and stay fit – no dieting or extreme exercise programs required. Corporate discount rates apply for 25 or more books, from 34-67% discount off the cover price.
- Our on-site seminars dispel fitness and weight loss myths, provide correct information about fitness and weight loss, and teach employees how to make healthy changes that fit in with their lifestyle. Our seminars help to stop the confusion so often found in the fitness and weight loss industries, and to bridge the gap between information (knowing what to do) and implementation (actually doing it). Seminars are also available in a teleconference format.
- Weekly email-based program to motivate, educate, and inspire employees to incorporate exercise and healthy eating into their lives. Includes before and after measurement of employee physical activity, lifestyle and habits, and nutrition knowledge.

Trainer To Go includes:
- 12-week audio coaching course (five CD set)
- One-year membership to Trainer To Go LIVE (to support employees beyond the initial 12 weeks) includes monthly “Meet the Experts” teleconference calls interviewing health and wellness professionals such as registered dieticians and exercise physiologists. | Program #4: Employee Coaching Program |
Our 20-week Employee Coaching Program offers both the advantage of personal, one-on-one coaching support and the benefit of group coaching teleconference calls, providing the right combination of support and accountability to each employee.
The 20-Week Employee Coaching Program Includes:
- A survey of individual employee subjective wellness measures, before and after the program.
- Health status questionnaire to be completed by each employee.
- The use of a “fitness wheel” to help assess what areas of wellness are important for each employee to improve upon.
- A goals assessment to help employees identify: what they want to achieve; their prime motivation to reach their goals; the obstacles that may get in their way; and the strategies to overcome those obstacles.
- An initial group coaching session is delivered on-site at company location.
- Ten, 40-minute bi-weekly group coaching sessions conducted over the phone in a teleconference format – almost seven hours of group coaching time. The agenda for each call consists of Q & A opportunity, discussion of employees’ obstacles, and an educational topic.
- Motivational exercise tools, CDs, and books – everything employees need to succeed.
Here are just a few of the educational topics tailored to each program:
- Values assessment: people need a solid plan to achieve their fitness goals, but alone it’s not enough. The goals and plan must be in alignment with a person’s value system.
- Setting SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic, and Time-bound).
- Realistic and creative ways to include fitness in a busy schedule.
- How to maximize results and minimize the time it takes to get fit, safely and effectively – the science of heart rate training applied to the individual, not a general approach.
- Intuitive Eating, a ground-breaking approach brought to the forefront by registered dieticians, proven to be much more effective than traditional dieting.
And, your employees receive 200 minutes of individualized coaching support throughout the program.
